Yak Farm North

Carita grew up in northern Vermont--her mother still lives up there. In 2001 we bought some acreage up in Jay, Vermont,
near the Canadian border. We camp up there in the summer, and hope to build a small vacation house there one day. The land is on the side of a mountain, with a beaver pond and lots of maple trees. It has a pretty view of the mountains, and the land it faces is owned by the Vermont Land trust, so we're hoping it will never be developed.

The land is near the Jay Peak ski area, so we often visit their website to get a sense of what the weather is there, and how much snow we might have to shovel should we ever move up north for good!

Jeff and the view from the lower meadow. It's especially pretty in the fall when the leaves have turned, but I don't have any pictures from the fall yet.

Mountain stream--the water is ice cold, even in summer, and tastes great.

Beaver pond--we've named the inhabitants Jack and Lucy--seemed like good names for beavers...
